Owner of Gateway Cabinetry Ltd., James Fenn (or better known as Jim to his friends) has over 30 years experience
in the business. James started working as a home builder in the 1970s. These early years of James’ career in home
building involved one small team building all areas of a house from the basement to finish including design, plumbing,
electrical, drywall, roofing, siding and finish carpentry. James learned an appreciation of all trades in home building
and the necessity of not cutting corners and doing the job right with each trade. In the 1980s, James moved into full
time finish carpentry and cabinet making where he studied for more than 20 years under two generations of Master
Cabinet Makers originating from Ireland. Today, James is the project lead on all design and custom woodwork projects.
Depending on your project scope and your personal style, James draws upon a competent team of more than 10 people
in the areas of cabinet making, painting, sales and administration to cover all aspects of the cabinet and millwork fields.
James is directly involved in working with you on all your custom design needs and as a Master Cabinet Maker, he
oversees all aspects of the building process.
